The Giants are having a hard time putting it all together so far this season. As soon as the hitters give them a lead, the pitchers give it away. That’s how it seemed to be going again today against the Braves, after Andruw Jones tagged Jason Schmidt for a three-run, game-tying homer in the sixth. The Braves a one-run lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Lance Niekro stepped up with a massive home to tie the game. Then the Giants scratched out another run, which scored on Randy Winn’s clutch single. So even though they haven’t played the perfect game yet, today’s 6-5 win keeps them in first place in their division one week into the season.
