You won't hear me complaining about a weekend filled with fun and happiness, but it took a lot out of me. I was up late last night and had a hard time getting started this morning. In fact, getting started never quite happened. I just kind of walked through what I had to do today, and as a result a lot of it is still undone. There's always tomorrow, one day removed from the packed weekend and with a night of sleep (please) in between.
The highlight of this day wasn't, as you might have suspected, falling asleep in the recliner for an hour in the middle of the afternoon without having the phone wake me up. It wasn't even when the sun tried to peek through the stubborn rain clouds for about two seconds this afternoon, although that was good, too.
It wasn't even when the clouds parted just in time for the start of the lunar eclipse, although that was awesome. (Slow, but awesome. Almost as if the cosmos didn't care about my short attention span.)
No, my highlight was my visit to Suzanne's to see her and all four of the grandchildren. We see Aiden and Kylie often (though not enough for me), but it's rare when I get a chance to see D.J. and Dakota. They are still terrific boys with their own quirky humor. They're still smart and interesting, and I've missed them a lot over the last couple of years. It was great to see them. |
