I was going to write an entry last night, but I got my new chair yesterday, and, well, I couldn’t seem to get out of it. John, Eric and David brought it by around 3:00 pm, and that was pretty much the end of my work day. It’s a good thing I had a supercharged morning and afternoon, because the evening was about as low key as an evening can get.

Somehow today I forced myself out of the chair long enough to get the minimum amount of work done. But for some reason all day long I couldn’t get over the feeling that it should have been the weekend already, or at least Friday. I couldn’t wrap my mind around the fact that it was still Thursday, and I still have to get through another day before I can sleep in. Or sleep all day in my chair.

I don’t want to come across as even lazier than I actually am, but I took a little power nap today, and somehow it stretched out to almost an hour. It’s not unusual for me to take a few minutes in the middle of the day, but in my old chair I don’t think I would have fallen so soundly asleep. If it hadn’t been for the telephone (which I didn’t even answer; it was the water company reminding me that tomorrow is delivery day), I might have slept straight through until it was dark.

If that had happened, it wouldn’t have mattered that there actually is a real weekend coming up soon, because I would have had to work straight through, sitting at my desk on my rickety desk chair or sitting at the computer in my computer chair instead of reclining in my new recliner, listening to soft music and reading a murder mystery.

Here it is.

Although I considered it, I did not in fact sleep all night in my new chair. I woke up and went to bed a little after 3:00 am, and it felt good to distribute my weight a little more evenly. That’s the big advantage a bed has over a chair, even if the chair is more comfortable.
