Maybe this was the last Monday of the year, but it was still a Monday. Fifty-one other Mondays can't be wrong. This wasn't going to be a break from tradition, although it started quietly. I didn't hear from the Boss until about 4 pm. Then the floodgates opened.

For the next three hours or so, the Boss, Tim and I were engaged in a three-way conversation about something (a) I know nothing about, and (2) I'm not supposed to know anything about. And yet I was relaying information from one to the other. Information that turned out to be a wee bit faulty. Information that was, in fact, about something else entirely, although I didn't realize that fact until way late in the process.

It would probably be better if they talked directly to each other. You try telling them that.

This was not an anomaly. This is a Monday, and it could be any Monday from the first one in January until the last one in December. The details might differ, but the mood and tenor are shockingly consistent. The only question is whether the madness is spread out over the whole Monday or is concentrated into one corner of the day. Either way, the effect is the same. I end up pretty impressed with myself for having navigated the rocky rapids one more time.
