My first mistake might have been getting up this morning. Period. But then I made things worse. It started out with a simple request from my antivirus software to renew my subscription. Little did I know that the project would eat up my whole morning and throw me off for the entire day.

A simple download, eh? No, not quite. The version I was renewing no longer exists, so I had to upgrade, which meant uninstalling the previous and restarting the computer, oh, about a dozen times. Sometimes it restarted itself, without my prompting, right in the middle of doing two things at once, so that everything had to start over.

And then there were the error messages and “where’s that file?” messages and “the program has discovered that you did something wrong” messages. I don’t know how many times I had to do the same steps over, but I got a little frustrated. I never made it to the post office, or any of the other errands I was planning for today.

Eventually, I got things running smoothly again. Or at least, I think I did. I’m still not completely confident that the new program won’t keep me from doing what I want to do. It’s a bit finicky about what it will let me do and what web sites it wants me to visit. I don’t really like being told what to do, if you know what I mean. Not by a piece of software that I paid for, anyway.

Sooner or later it will all be fine, but I’m a little worse for wear tonight. I could use a weekend right about now.

Sunburnt cloud.

And there’s the other problem. I spent most of the day thinking it was Friday (which would have made tomorrow Saturday). By the time I realized the truth, it was a big letdown to realize there was one more day between me and my weekend. But at least that gives me a chance to get back to where I was yesterday, so that I can get caught up with this week by some time next week.

Stuff

To comfort myself after a harsh day, I made my cheesy mashed potatoes tonight. If they’re a health hazard, I don’t think I want to hear about it.
